This Sunday, on my diner safari,I decided to cruise on down to New Bedford to check this one out, as I had seen the great Yelp reviews. Had a pleasant ride with very little traffic to deal with and the air was cool and crisp.I enjoyed watching the sun come up as I was tooling down the road.Just me and the steady purr of my Harley.Life is good... About an hour later,I rolled into the parking lot behind the diner and was now ready for some hot coffee and a good meal.Sat at the counter as I always do and had my first cup while checking out the big breakfast menu. Great variety of things to have here, some of which I never heard of.I decided on my favorite; homemade hash,a couple of eggs, toast ,home fries and a side of sausage.Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The waitstaff were very friendly and extremely interested in talking about me and the fact that I rode 75 miles just to have breakfast there. The prices are cheap, large portions, and the food, service, and atmosphere were well worth the trip. I've now been to every diner in the area and found this one to be the best of all of them.I'll come back for sure.

This place is seriously delicious with ridiculously good prices, and unbeatable service. Came here with my husband and his grandfather, who knows New Bedford inside and out. We all had the fish & chips plate -- AMAZING -- and split a fried dough dessert (also darn delicious). The best part here is the laid-back ambiance and the excellent waitstaff. It's really just a pleasure to eat here. You feel totally welcomed and the food and prices are super good.

This is one of those old-fashioned, build-your-own diner in a box type places. It's a little metal shed on a corner near downtown New Bedford. I have never been to a diner like this, so I had a good time. We sat at the counter (there was a ton of counter space and a few booths on the opposite wall) and the service was super friendly. There was just a thin walkway through the middle of the diner back to the kitchen and bathroom. The menu was typical for breakfast and I ordered the standard eggs, bacon, hash browns and a pancake. Yummy food except the pancake was a little underdone. Everyone else really enjoyed what they ate and everything on the menu was super cheap. I think my favorite part about the experience was the service. Everyone was really nice and very talkative. They were nice and talked a lot about New Bedford and things we could do and see. One of the server's daughters also lived in a town near my mom in Illinois so we talked about that a lot, too. It was really a great experience and I'd go back again for sure. For those who are interested, they had a great looking dinner menu that included a lot of local specials. They had meatloaf dinners, stuffed quahogs and a lot of other seafood (especially lobster) because they're a port town - they are good at this kind of stuff. They change the specials daily and they're still very, very reasonably priced so check them out. Beware: Cash only!

The real deal. I grew up in New Bedford, was recently back in town and stopped by for lunch. I probably haven't been here in 35 years. Nothing has changed except the addition of 'Angelos' to the name. The place has been there forever; the waitress's grandfather was a cook there, and she was 60. My turkey club and fries were fine diner fare. Diner coffee. I need to get back here for some ham and eggs. And a malassada.

My roommates and I have been coming here for a little while now, and it's pretty much everything I want in a "greasy spoon" diner. Please keep in mind that I use the term "greasy spoon" with the utmost love and respect! My group of friends has a fairly varied range of tastes, a couple of them being vegetarian. But we're always happy to come here. Pancakes and waffles are always ordered. Personally, I really love the Ultimate Cheese omelette - a variety of cheeses inside a simple omelette, sure. But what REALLY knocks it out of the park is the addition of cream cheese inside! Everything is tasty and cooked to order, and the staff is friendly and quick to refresh your coffee. The place is a bit small and parking can be a little tricky, so you might want to reconsider if you have a large group. But 4-5 people will leave there very happy and satisfied. The prices are great and everything is fantastically tasty.

I am a huge fan of the Orchid Diner. My favorite home fries in the New Bedford area are served here. On top of those all of the standard breakfast dare which is done well, they also have exemplary muffins. I have also dined there for dinner, and I remember the experience fondly. The entrees are simple and delicious, just like grandma would cook. The space is cozy if not cramped, but what else can you expect at a diner.
